When you instruct us to act, we will ask you to provide information that will assist us in delivering legal services to you. We may collect this information by telephone, email, interview, or by post. This will be done at the beginning of our instruction and on an ongoing basis.

  • A recorded digital video showing your face to compare it your photographic identification (to carry out due diligence).

  • Professional information (such as job title, previous positions, and professional experience) to conduct our recruiting, vetting and selection process.

  • Banking and financial details (to establish the source of funds where a transaction is involved, or to make or receive payments).

  • Details of visits to our website (which enable our website to remember information about you and your preferences). This information will however only be linked to your IP address and not linked to any other personal information that you may provide in the course of our instruction.

  • Where necessary to act in your best interests, and for the establishment, exercise, or defence of your legal matter, we may need to process information which is related to your matter and/or of a very sensitive in nature (special category of personal data) such as racial or ethnic origin, religion, sexual orientation, political opinions, health data, trade union membership, philosophical views, biometric and genetic data related details. In some circumstances we may need to share this information with third parties, for example a court or tribunal. If you volunteer sensitive personal data, you will be allowing us to process it as part of engaging our services.

If you attend our offices, your video image may be captured on CCTV outside of our offices and in any hallways of our buildings, as part of our building and office security measures. No CCTV will be captured of any meetings or discussions that you have with us.

 

Retention Periods

 

We are legally required to hold some types of information to fulfil our statutory obligations or legal obligations, but we will only hold your personal data on our systems for as long as is necessary for the relevant activity, or as long as is set out in any relevant contract you hold with us.

 

Who has access to your information

 

We may pass your information to our third party service providers agents, subcontractors and other associated organisations for the purpose of completing tasks and providing services to you on our behalf or for compliance with our legal obligations (for example to carry our money laundering checks). However, when we use third party service providers, we disclose only the personal data that is necessary to deliver the service.

  • Anti-Money Laundering service providers.

  • Barristers instructed by us on your behalf in order to obtain expert legal advice or provide services in respect of an aspect of your claim.

  • Experts instructed by us on your behalf in order to obtain expert advice.

  • Cost Draftsmen instructed by us as part of the assessment of costs (usually in litigation cases only) to provide a third-party assessment of costs being claimed in litigation which is put which is put before the court for an order for costs to be made. 

  • Debit and credit card payment processors when you make any debit or credit card payment

 

We may transfer your personal data to a third party as part of a sale of some or all of our business and assets to a third party, or as part of a business restructuring or reorganisation, to enforce or apply our terms and conditions, or to protect our rights, property or safety.
